Maine Literacy Partnership is a statewide partnership with Maine schools designed to advance the literacy achievement of all elementary students. We are committed to providing ongoing school-based professional development and support for educators as they practice current research-based instruction.
We believe that refining educators' knowledge and skills will result in students and teachers becoming life-long learners. Literacy Coaches assist in this effort.
The roles of a literacy coach are many. Yet, the essential purpose of the literacy coach is to continually provide professional development for teachers, thereby enhancing classroom-learning experiences. Because the Literacy Partnership framework ensures long-term, meaningful support for teachers, it moves well beyond the typical teacher- training scenario. Teachers are guided through demonstration lessons, classroom observations, graduate classes, and other forms of individualized assistance and professional development.
